The Foundational Model of Anatomy Ontology (FMA) is a reference ontology for the
domain of human anatomy. The OBO Foundry’s bespoke OBO-format slim of the FMA has
been deprecated; the fma.owl PURL now resolves to the official FMA release.
Version 5.1.0 was released in May 2026 from the GitHub repository
https://github.com/uw-sig/FMA. The release notes for version 5.0.0 describe it as
the last version released by the Structural Informatics Group before its members
retired or moved on.
