The Zebrafish International Resource Center (ZIRC) is a central repository for wild-type, mutant and transgenic strains of zebrafish (Danio rerio), maintained as live stocks or cryopreserved sperm and distributed as live adults or embryos. ZIRC also distributes antibodies, ESTs/cDNAs and gene probes, and provides health services including diagnostic pathology for zebrafish and other small laboratory fish. It is housed at the University of Oregon and is a sister organization to ZFIN, whose allele and feature pages list ZIRC as a source when a line is available there.

The Zebrafish International Resource Center is a central repository for wild-type, mutant and transgenic strains of zebrafish (Danio rerio). Lines are maintained as live stocks or cryopreserved sperm and distributed as live adults or embryos. ZIRC also stores and distributes antibodies, ESTs/cDNAs and gene probes, and provides health services including diagnostic pathology for zebrafish and other small laboratory fish (RRID:SCR_005065).
The online catalog listed 44,483 zebrafish lines on 2026-10-03.
ZIRC is a sister organization to the Zebrafish Information Network (ZFIN), also at the University of Oregon. Catalog entries link to the corresponding ZFIN records, and ZFIN allele and feature pages list ZIRC as the current source when a line is available there.
No bulk download or API is offered. ZFIN’s downloads do not include a ZIRC-specific file.
ZIRC is funded by NIH Office of Research Infrastructure Programs grant P40OD011021, in collaboration with the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). Zoltán M. Varga is the contact PI.
The ZIRC Terms of Use allow downloading site material for non-commercial personal use only, retaining copyright notices. Distributing, modifying, re-posting or using site content for public or commercial purposes requires written permission from ZIRC. Requesting physical materials requires agreeing to the ZIRC Material Transfer Agreement (MTA).
